VINTAGE
The Alitia vineyard designate wine is the most graceful zinfandel we produce. Even with continuing drought conditions in 2016, the fruit from this vineyard retained ample acidity while developing a flavor profile that is full, but not overripe, with lingering flavors in the finish. Brighter in both color and flavor, this wine spent 17 months in oak (34% new) which will allow it to age safely for 10 years. Optimal aging time is 5 years post vintage date.
VINEYARD
The Alitia vineyard was planted in 1984. The vineyard was expanded in 2000 with cuttings from the original vineyard. Organic, dry-farmed, head pruned, and meticulously managed crop load create a consistently elegant zinfandel. The soil is primarily comprised of decomposed granite on rolling slopes and benefits from all-day sun exposure. Cover crops are utilized for proper nutrient supplementation with minimal tilling.
TASTE
Aromas of cherries, rhubarb, and butterscotch with hints of rose petals and spice greet the nose. Flavors of cherries, vanilla, black pepper and cocoa combine with ample acid and lengthy tannins to produce an elegant Zin with a lasting finish. Enjoy!
